Salam,
Je tiens à partager le rappel qu'a fait Tariq Ramadan sur le sacrifice de l'aid al adha:
"
SACRIFICING THE SHEEP
The feast is approaching and we are ready for the sacrifice of the sheep in order to commemorate Abraham's memory. An important reminder, where the father's love added to the son's love culminated in God's love: a blessed child, a sacred sacrifice. Light upon light, Love upon love.
During these days, we must call upon Muslims to deepen their consciousness, stating:
1. If the sacrifice is already performed by a member of the family (at large) and is covering the need of that family;
2. If there is the slightest doubt related to the condition of the sacrifice as to the animal's mistreatment and her suffering;
Then, in these two cases, in the very name of the Islamic teachings and the multiple scholarly opinions, it is preferable to avoid sacrificing and to pay the amount (equivalent to the sheep's price) to solidarity organisations which will use it in a dignified and useful way.
Formalism in the ritual - with its waste, mistreatment and suffering - cannot take precedence over the deep meaning of the fundamental teachings of Islam and its higher objectives.
It is important to celebrate Abraham's memory but without waste, without inhumanity, without suffering. To be at peace with God is to be at peace with ourself, with our fellow human beings, with Nature and with all the animals. A reminder, with peace.
Happy feast, Eid Mubarak.
