Dans le cadre du projet finances 2013 présenté par le gouvernement, le budget qui sera alloué aux palais royaux par le gouvernement Benkirane sera de Deux milliards 576 millions de dirhams (301 millions de dollars), avec une hausse de 1% par rapport à l'année dernière.
Ce budget faramineux, nettement supérieur à celui de l'Elysée (108,9 millions d'euros) et celui de la Maison Blanche (260 millions de dollars) s'inscrit dans un contexte de crise et un amenuisement considérable du pouvoir d'achat du citoyen marocain, alors que le budget royal dépasse de loin lindécence.
