JEDDAH Prince Muhammad Bin Saud Bin Abdul Aziz has died abroad, a Royal Court statement said Sunday. Funeral prayers will be performed after Maghreb (sunset) prayers Monday at Imam Turki Bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh, the statement said.
Prince Muhammad was Emir of Al-Baha region from 1987 to 2010.
Born in Riyadh in 1934, Prince Muhammad received his education at the School of King Sauds Sons and earned his secondary education certificate from Riyadh Model Institute. He traveled to Beirut to study at the American University there where he took English courses. He also traveled to Egypt, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Britain and France for higher education.
At the age of 18, he was appointed Chief Private Guard of the late King Saud. After seven years, he took over as Chief of the Royal Court for five years. Prince Muhammad was also Acting Finance Minister for a brief period. In 1960, Prince Muhammad took over as Minister of Defense and Aviation.
He was a member of King Abdul Aziz Foundation and was on board of directors of several foundations, companies and sports clubs. He was the Chairman of the Committee on Developing Al-Baha regions villages and Honorary President of Al-Baha Investment and Development Company.
