Lalla Latifa Hammou (born 1945 or 1946) is the widow of king Hassan II and the mother of Princess Lalla Meryem, King Mohammed VI, Princess Lalla Asma, Princess Lalla Hasna and Prince Moulay Rachid.
Born Fatima Hammou but called Latifa (to avoid confusion with her cousin, the king's other wife, the former Lalla Fatima bint Qaid Amhourok), Lalla Latifa is the daughter of a senior Berber notable of the Zaiane tribe, related to Mouha ou Hammou Zayani, and niece of the Kaid Ould Hassan Amhourak. She married Hassan II in 1961.[1] She is also the sister of General Hammou who tried to kill King Hassan II in the early 70s (he was secretly assassinated), this incident has created a sort of tension in the royal palace. Latifa was subsequently imprisoned somewhere (but we don't have any information to confirm the place).
The king's wife and mother of the royal heirs had no royal title, even though her sister in-law Princess Lamia Solh (of Lebanese origins) was given a royal title. Instead, Lalla Latifa Hammou has been known as the Mother of the Princes. After the death of her husband king Hassan II, she married Mohammed Mediouri, Hassan II's head of security. As a result, her son, king Mohammed VI, boycotted her for over a year until French President Jacques Chirac intervened to resolve this issue. She now lives in France with her second husband Mediouri. She adopted a little orphan boy surname Yassine in 2011 with her second husband, which created tensions with his children who see with a dim view this adoption taking into account his age and status.
donc il n'y a qu'une seule mère des princes ????
enfin, moi, c ce que j'ai tjrs compris ....
